Welcome — I'm so glad you're here. I offer consultation including group consultation to clinicians learning and practicing DBR.

DBR has changed the way I am present in the world, allowing me to be more of who I am and more fully present to myself and those around me.  I am excited to offer opportunities to help you on your journey...

If you’ve landed on this page, chances are you’re a clinician, healer, or helper who’s navigating the complexities of holding space for others. Maybe you're encountering clients whose trauma feels out of reach with traditional methods. Maybe you’re longing for consultation that’s not just technically sound, but deeply attuned — where you feel seen, supported, and resourced in your work.

I offer consultation rooted in presence, precision, and the emerging science of trauma healing. My work is informed by over a decade of immersion in somatic and neurobiological approaches — especially Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), a modality that continues to inspire awe for its capacity to reach the core of traumatic wounding. I also bring deep experience with the MID, attachment-based therapies, and clinical intuition honed through years of therapeutic practice.

Whether you're integrating DBR into your work, deepening your understanding of trauma, or seeking a reflective space to explore your own stuck points as a practitioner — I’d be honored to join you.

This work is sacred. And it’s brave. Thank you for doing it.

Oh — and the handsome guy in many of my photos? That’s Strider, my standard poodle and faithful co-regulator. While he's retired from client duties, he still makes sure I’m well-supported.

My Journey

In the spring of 2025, Dr. Corrigan asked me to start group consultations to help DBR clinicians continue their learning and hone their skill set. Individual and groups consultations are available.  In February of 2026, I was accredited by DBR Ltd. as an Approved Deep Brain Reorienting Consultant (DBR-C).

Why work with me?

I will never forget the thrill of stumbling upon DBR, which actually heals attachment wounds.  And I remember the overwhelm of completing L2 and L3 and wondering how the heck to put DBR into practice.  I was very fortunate to engage in regular consultation almost immediately with Dr. Christie-Sands & Cindy Shrigley.

My DBR Consultation

I have worked with the following consultants:

  • Dr. Frank Corrigan

  • Dr. Jessica Christie-Sands

  • Cindy Shrigley

  • Jan Cassidy

  • Fern Banner

  • Sarah Jenkins

I am currently in ongoing groups with Dr. Corrigan and meet with him individually.  Additionally, I am the developer of DBR with Sudden Sound (DBR S2) - a project I worked on with Frank, Claire Vernon & Laura McMurry.  Refer to my 'Upcoming Trainings' page for more information.

DBR Training Assistant

I’ve have assisted in 12+ DBR trainings, including the role of Lead Assistant.  The two in-person trainings I assisted were incredible experiences – I look forward to leading the assistants at the level 3 training in Dundee, Scotland in May.

I’d be honored to help you continue to solidify your knowledge and move with confidence as you offer DBR to your clients, knowing that you are fully grounded in your knowledge and skills.

Cara Kless

Hello and welcome! I am the "and Associates" part of "Chris Vavro and Associates".

I work with trauma survivors to find the most appropriate therapy to help them heal from their trauma and move forward into a life that acknowledges their past but is not owned by it.

I also offer DBR experiential sessions for clinicians looking to complete the requirements for their DBR-P certification. I am a Level 3 trained DBR clinician under consultation.

My career as a dancer led me to utilize body based and somatic interventions in my work as a trauma therapist.

My career as a therapist has led me to focus on the pain trauma survivors struggle with.

I sought training that would grow my skills and allow me to offer my clients a variety of modalities. As a result, I am a certified EMDR therapist as well as a DBR therapist and am committed to offering people from marginalized communities a place to find their voice, tell their story, and heal from their wounds.

Healing is more than just coping mechanisms - true healing goes all the way to the core.

My Path

I began my journey as a therapist working at the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center.

I was inspired by the strength I saw and the healing path that survivors I worked with

were choosing. This was not easy work they were doing, but they were courageous

and committed, and I was privileged to be able to support them in that work.

As I began training to increase my skills and knowledge of trauma focused healing, it became

clear to me that people who didn't easily fit in to our society had a different and more challenging path to becoming whole again.

And those people seemed to fit with me.

People in the LGBTQ+ community, the alt spiritual community, the alt sexual community were trying to build a life in a place that was trauma inducing every day, and I decided I wanted to be able to offer them a place to find their voice and their path and heal deeper than coping mechanisms and distress tolerance.  Those skills are a good start, but they don't offer deep transformative healing. I carefully weave together a combination of somatic resources, EMDR, and DBR to tailor therapy to each client I work with.

If you are ready to do the work, I would be honored to help you find your balance and your voice.

Let's schedule a brief 15 minute consultation to see if we would be a good fit.
